MESSAGE FROM THE CHAPTER CHAIR
Greetings GNYMLA members,
We had a terrific turnout for our meeting on December 9 at the Morgan Library and Museum. It was great to see everyone! Once again I'd like to thank J. Rigbie Turner for hosting the meeting, leading us through his Mozart exhibit, and entertaining questions about the renovation.
At the Business meeting which followed, you'll recall that Secretary/Treasurer Mi-Hye Chyun agreed to collect dues for 2006-2007without back dues, so that that status of all members conforms with our by-laws (See Article VI, Section I). The membership dues form is at the end of this newsletter. In response to a motion (which was seconded), I agreed to draft an amendment to the bylaws that allows for suspension of dues at the discretion of the Chapter Board. However we, the Chapter Board, now agree that further discussion is needed by the membership, before I send this out as a ballot. Such an amendment would in fact conflict with Article VI, Section I, "The payment of dues shall be required of all voting members of this Chapter." We will therefore delay distribution of such a ballot until substantive discussion of its implications is possible. Meanwhile the membership is invited to review the chapter's bylaws on the website.
